Track Maintenance Tips
The following maintenance tips should be used to ensure the maximum longevity of the running track surface.
Use the running track for walking or running only. Do not permit bicycles, skateboards, roller blades etc. on the running track
· Limit vehicular traffic to light-weight maintenance equipment and mowers ONLY.
· Lawnmowers must be elevated to maximum height and all equipment should cross areas on plywood or crossing-mat
· Lay crossing mats or indoor /outdoor carpeting for football players to cross running track
· Do not drag any equipment across running track, lift and carry it into place
· Use weed killer to keep grass and weeds approximately 6” from running track edge
· Immediately kill any grass or weeds that grow on the running track
· Use water nozzle and hose or blower to clean grass clippings and other debris off the running track
· Keep fertilizers away from the running track
· If community is allowed to use running track to walk or run, we recommend they use lanes 4-9 as most runners use the inside lanes and they will
show
wear sooner
· Post
signs stating the rules of running track use.
